Sharing our Music Within our Community

For over 30 years MRMTA has supported inner city music programs through its annual “Kids Helping Kids” Musicthon fundraiser, with $216,181 donated to date. Musicthon in 2021/22 adapted to a new format which culminated with student performances in a YouTube video premiere. The essence of Musicthon remained unchanged: students register, collect donation pledges and share a musical performance.

What is Musicthon?

Musicthon funds support programs within inner city and lower income areas of Winnipeg, in daycare as well as child/caregiver drop-in settings. They are targeted at families who often do not have the funds to access early childhood music programs, particularly of this calibre.

Tiny Tunes music programs are run in seven daycares and currently reach approximately 300 children weekly. Programming was able to resume in June after the spring shutdown, with new safety measures implemented including smaller group sizes.

Here at Creative Expressions Music Academy, we 100% support the idea of kids helping kids. We are proud to raised $2,673 at the fundraising events organized by the Manitoba Registered Music Teacher's Association to help make music programs accessible for kids in need in 2021 and 2022.
