Alternate Lesson Options
We do not offer traditional "make-up lessons" in our studio. Instead, your monthly payment reserves a time each week for your child(ren), and we try to be accommodating by offering a variety of alternate lesson options for you to explore when you have a week you aren't able to attend in person.
Online Lessons
Online Lessons (using Zoom, FaceTime, FB Messenger and Skype) are perfect if your child is free at the regular lesson time, but just can’t make it to the studio. For example, if you have car troubles or have a babysitter in who doesn’t drive, or even if your child is feeling too ill to come to the studio. This is also the lesson option we move to as a studio during Covid-19 Restrictions.
Video Lessons
Video Lessons are a good choice when you are aware that something will be coming up at our lesson time that you can’t reschedule. Simply send through a video before our lesson time playing through their assignments. We will review it during our lesson time and provide feedback, notes or a reply video (as appropriate) so your child can keep progressing. Please be aware that this is not an “after-the-fact” option for missed lessons.
Lesson Swaps
We have created a private, parents-only group where parents can have a safe place to communicate with one another, ask questions, share ideas, support one another and find a sense of community.
Studio Policies
We have some additional studio policies that are important to read/understand prior to signing up for lessons with us. Below you will find details on our practice expectations, late policy, and our withdrawal process.
Practice Expectation
Our program is designed to motivate students to practice at home, and we like to keep it fun! The reality is, without consistent practice, your child won't be able to make progress in music. They'll get bored of their pieces before they're able to learn them, and it will be hard to keep them engaged. We ask that you have a discussion with your child(ren) and figure out a practice routine together. (Anticipate: 15-45 min/day, 4-5 days/week - for most weeks).
Late Policy
Please always try to give your teacher as much notice as possible. If you are running late, your teacher will attempt to contact you; however, after 15 minutes into the lesson, out of respect for your teacher's time, the lesson will be forfeited. Your teacher may message you with some details, so please check your texts/emails following a missed lesson, just in case. Please remember to use your lesson alternatives where possible.
Withdrawal Process
To opt out of your Lesson Contract, we require 30 days' Written Notice and it is only possible during the months of: November - May. Friendly Reminder: Please ask for a receipt if you would like one.
- Clients on Rotessa: We will stop all future payment and archive your account.
- Clients on Post-Dated Cheques: Uncashed cheques will be returned, and we will refund money owed to you after your last lesson.
