Our Community
Students at Creative Expressions Music Academy learn about the capacity their music has to make a difference in the greater community. We do this in small ways such as performing for friends and family in our studio challenges, and in larger ways such as hosting recitals in local care homes and raising funds for local charities.
Our CEMA Family
Our focus is taking care of our students and their well-being to prevent the isolation and loneliness that is often the cause of students quitting lessons.
25% of our musical experiences are held in group settings, so that our students find camaraderie with one another and our parents become friends. In lessons, our teachers work hard to let students pick their own pieces, which makes a huge difference!
Musicthon (2021-2022)
We 100% support the idea of kids helping kids. We are proud to have raised $2,673 at the fundraising events organized by the Manitoba Registered Music Teacher's Association to help make music programs more accessible for kids in need.
Their 'Tiny Tunes' music programs are run in seven daycares and currently reach approximately 300 children weekly within Winnipeg, MB.
Musical Fundraisers/Performances
At our March Recital each year, we collect donations for various local causes (Musicthon, Ukraine, Pet Shelters), and we perform in personal care homes when it is possible to do so.
When Covid-19 cancelled all live music, we emailed over 300 student performances to the personal care homes across Manitoba! You can read more about our meaningful program "Sharing is Caring" below.
Special Videos
Sing-Alongs in Care Homes
Here is a clip from one of Christmas Recital just prior to the pandemic in December 2019 (back when we were just a piano school)!
After all of the students performed their pieces for the seniors, we passed out jingle bells and sang a few sing-alongs with the residents, including this "Jingle Bell Rock".
Collection for Ukraine
In our first live recital since Covid-19 began, our students and their families enjoyed Corey's performance of three pieces by Ukrainian Composer: Evgeny Khmara.
We collected donations to Ukraine following the recital and were able to contribute over $700.00 to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
Remembrance Day Tribute
Here is our CEMA Remembrance Day tribute; an exquisite arrangement of "The Last Post" by Alexis Ffrench, for trumpet and piano.
This piece was recorded on our acoustic grand piano, with the BBC SO Solo Trumpet VST to interweave the familiar melody into the pianistic accompaniment.

Sharing is Caring
We have initiated a virtual program bringing our recitals into all 130 Manitoba care homes each month.
Combatting Isolation
When compared to other activities (sports, dance, or martial arts) music lessons can be LONELY.
