We Need Your Help Too
Parent Education
One of the most important parts of your lesson package is parent education. We make sure that you as parents feel confident in your role as an essential part of your child's "music team". Please read your Parent Handbook thoroughly when you register and refer to it often throughout the year. We also have designed a password-protected "Parent Resource" page on our website, where you gain access to loads of helpful resources and ideas.
Your Responsibilities
Here's a quick summary of your tasks as a CEMA Parent:
- Attend part of the lesson/help them practice (ages 6-9)
- Check in with your teacher to register for group classes, recitals & events and to see how your child is doing
- Read our monthly, Studio Newsletters
- Be aware of our Policies & Procedures
- Follow us on Social Media (links will be emailed)
Growing & Evolving
Your parental role changes over time. For students ages 6-9, we recommend a parent sit with/near their child as they learn how to practice for the first couple of months (or even years). When you feel they can stay on task, you slowly give them more independence at home. Soon, your child won't need as much guidance, but your main role will never change: Encourage practicing... but always show them love and compassion if they're having an "off" day or two.
